| Welcome to La Reata, a fantastic working cattle ranch located in the beautiful Saskatchewan River valley, along the shores of Lake Diefenbaker. The scenery reminds of an old fashion western movie. The landscape is a mixture of rolling prairies, open range, canyons, river hills and sandy beaches. Life here follows the seasons and the rhythm of the herds. You will experience the cowboy way-of-life, not from a helicopter or an air-conditioned truck, but from the cowpoke's best friend, the horse. An intimate, real-life ranch experience that will fill your heart and certainly draw you back to this little corner of paradise!. |
Days 1 to 4 - Kyle (Saskatchewan)
Here is what you must expect when you stay in this very unique place: After the famous and extensive La Reata Breakfast, it is time for everybody to saddle the horses! Every guest will get a suitable horse to enjoy the time at La Reata. Than we take off for an exciting day ride to check the herd and to explore the large ranch property. Guests at La Reata stay in western-style wood cabins decorated to make any cowboy feel at home. The Ranch has its own Saloon with a pool table, foosball and darts. Guests are welcome to use the hot tub whenever they feel like relaxing in a bubbling hot bath. Meals are prepared in the ranches Cookshack – wholesome, plentiful cowboy cuisine that includes melt in-your-mouth Canadian beef. Here we do a lot of horseback riding because there is no better way to experience the cowboy way-of-life! Beginners are welcome to have their first western riding lessons in our larger riding arena at the main ranch. Everyone will have the chance to learn how to rope and work with cattle or try the first barrel race. All guests are of course welcome to participate in the cattle and ranch work. We have to check and move cows on a daily basis. While there is a lot to do, we never forget to relax and have a good lunch brake with coffee, beans and sausages cooked over an open fire.
