| You are craving for some adventure in the wild? If so, you’ll be delighted by a stay at the Mattawin Adventure Centre. Located in the heart of an extraordinary natural territory, on the edge of the Mauricie National Park as well as the Mastigouche and St. Maurice Wildlife Reserves, the Adventure Centre offers an outstanding selection of activities well suited for every taste and every level. The flexibility concept this page features allows you to select the activities of your choice among those listed below (one per day) and to decide the length of your stay (minimum of two days and maximum of fives days). Since all these activities start early in the morning and finish late in the afternoon, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to add some nights before and after (It takes approximately 1h45 from Montreal and 1h30 from Quebec City to reach the Adventure Centre). -ADVENTURE RAFTING
With this program, designed for thrill enthusiasts, adventurers spend a day outdoors and live the adventure of a lifetime in a highly safe setting. If you crave for exciting adventures, this program is what you need!
-FAMILY RAFTING
Designed for parents wishing to share the rafting experience with their children or for adults looking for a less challenging activity, this program was created for a clientele of 6 years and up. You will navigate on calm waters and in small rapids. This new program is ideal to live a slowpaced adventure as well as to discover the Quebec riverbanks and forest wilderness.
-RIVER KAYAKING
Live an exhilirating experience while paddling through the mighty waters of the Mattawin River.
-SEA KAYAKING
The Mauricie region features lush and wild forests where mighty rivers are flowing along spectacular valleys. Between the famous Mauricie National Park and the Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve, you are invited to discover a fabulous natural territory during a sea kayaking expedition.
-CANOEING
A canoe excursion that takes place throughout incomparable scenery, ideal for an initiation to paddling. A once in a lifetime experience for those who desire to venture off the beaten tracks and to discover the true nature of the wild Canadian forest!
-CANYONING
The mission of this adventure is to go down the Dunbar River in the St.Mauricie reserve using ropes and to come back by rock climbing its sides. A warm-up walk of 1 km will take our adventurers to one of the most popular sites of the St. Mauricie reserve. During their descent, they will face various falls and canyons up to 10 meters, and go down a small canyon to reach their goal. After 2 km of descent, they will hike back to the starting point.
-HYDROSPEED
Hydrospeed or swimming in wild water is a gliding sport consisting of swimming down the river with fins and a protective floater. Strongly built, this kick-board is specially designed for the bodysurfing adept wanting for a safe and easy to maneuver apparatus. Your kayaker guide will teach you the following techniques: fairy, swivel, esquimo roll as well as surf. You will swim down the river in a group of 5 hydroluge racers.
-ROCK CLIMBING
This package is ideal for those who want an adventure made up of climbing all while discovering the different scenery and canyons that the Mattawin River offers you. For the beginners, an initiation package focuses on preparing guests to the basic skills required to the practice of rock climbing. Special attention is given to safety, without foregoing the amount of time spent scaling. The pleasure of scaling and the atmosphere of this activity will give you the confidence and knowledge required to develop autonomy in top roping. |
