The title says it all! The easy pace of this tour allows you a chance to visit the vibrant cities of Halifax and St-John’s, the magnificent Louisbourg Fortress, to hike trails in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, to explore Gros Morne National Park, to discover the wide open spaces of Newfoudland and so much more!




Upon arrival at the hotel on day one, you’ll find your personalized Globe-Trotter roadbook at the front desk. This very complete package of travelling literature includes: the relevant road maps, a copy of your detailed itinerary, some useful travelling tips, the vouchers, the relevant travelling guides, a 24h/7d toll free emergency number as well as a few surprises !

Day 1 - Halifax
Pick-up your vehicle. discover the thrilling region of Halifax and its surroundings.

Day 2 - Halifax / Sydney (400 km)
Today you will drive across Nova Scotia in order to reach Sydney, the largest city in Cape Breton Island.

Day 3 - Sydney / Stephenville (195 Km+ferry: 7 hours)
From Sydney, take the ferry to Port-aux-Basques Newfoundland. In the 16th century, Port-aux-Basques was a fishing port used by the French, the Portuguese and of course the Basque. You will pass your first night on Newfoundland soil in the Acadian village of Stephenville. (Breakfast included)

Days 4 and 5 - Stephenville / Rocky Harbour (200 km)
We highly suggest that you spend at least one day to visit spectacular Gros Morne National Park, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 6 - Rocky Harbour / Lewisport (340 km)
Lewisports is an ideal starting point from which you can explore the rugged and picturesque landscapes on Central Newfoundland. The area is also renowned for its whale and Iceberg watching cruises.

From Rocky Harbour (day 6), here are a few optional short stays that you could easily add to your package. Please refer to their duration in order to determine the number of nights each of these trips will add to the original route.

Day 7 - Lewisport / Clarenville (205 km)
The Clarenville area features typical Newfoundland seascapes and will delight the nature enthusiasts looking for amazing walking opportunities. (Breakfast included)

Days 8 and 9 - Clarenville / St-John’s (188 km)
Continue east towards St-John’s. The provincial capital and its vicinities have a lot to offer: a thrilling animation, numerous historical sites, a rich museum, etc. You will also be amazed by its legendary pubs! Don’t miss the Cape Spear National Historic Site which constitute the most easterly point in North America and home to the oldest existing lighthouse in Newfoundland. Watch for whales and icebergs from this beautiful point!

Days 10 and 11 - St-John’s / Sydney (140 km+ferry: 14 hours)
Board the 09:00 ferry to Nova Scotia where you’ll arrive in late evening. During your stay in Cape Breton Island, We suggest strongly that you take some time to visit Fortress of Louisbourg which will literally take you back to the French Regime era!

Day 12 - Sydney / Ingonish Beach (124 km)
Discover beautiful Ingonish and witness dramatic scenery along the famous Cabot Trail. (Breakfast included)

Day 13 - Ingonish Beach / Baddeck (91 km)
Located on the shores of the Bras d’Or Lake, this beautiful quaint town definitely worth a visit!

From Ingonish (day 13), here are a few optional short stays that you could easily add to your package. Please refer to their duration in order to determine the number of nights each of these trips will add to the original route.

TIP: Please note that these prices include a pick up directly at the airport. Considering how expensive taxi transfer can be and the fact that you'll only have to park your vehicle in downtown (city centre) the first night, we truly belive that it's the easiest way to proceed. If for whatever reason you would like to proceed otherwise by rather piking-up the car in a downtown location on day 2, we'd be more than happy to quote it for you.
